
DeWitt first appeared on stage when she was 13. DeWitt graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor's degree in Arts. The director encouraged her to enroll in UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program. In the program, she was awarded the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship and the Clifton Webb Scholarship. While at UCLA she was employed as a secretary before making her TV debut in an episode of Baretta.Contrary to rumors that she was mentored by actor Abe Vigoda, Dewitt has stated that they did not meet. DeWitt's character as Janet Wood in Three's Company's 1977-1984 run is her most well-known. She was part of the show's pilot and was eventually offered the role. She also portrayed Janet in an episode of the show in 1979. spinoff show The Ropers. DeWitt made her acting debut in a scene in 1984 on Three's Company. The actress returned to acting in a part in an production of Noises Off at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse in June 1991. [1] She later appeared in the 1995 TV comedy film Spring Fling! Pinky and the Brain featured an actress who was modelled after her voice by another actress in 1997. The actress appeared in an episode of Cybill and made an appearance in the penultimate episode of Living Single. [6] She has appeared on TV shows like Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special, and Call of the Wild in 2000.
