Lisa Edelstein (born Lisa Edelstein) is an American actress best famous for her character House in Fox's medical drama House. Raised in Wayne within a conservative Jewish tradition, she moved in New York City at the age of 18 and began studying acting at the Tisch School of Arts. Soon, she was a part of the New York club scene and started getting headlines. The press also was impressed by her. She used both her training in music and fame to write and perform in a new musical, Positive Me. Soon after, she was offered the job of MTV and was the host of Awake to the Wild Side. After it was taken off air, she was able to appear in films and television production beginning in roles of a short duration before establishing herself as an actress.
